Synchro Ontario celebrates as Clare McGovern is named Junior Athlete of the 2013 Canadian Open Championships
Clare McGovern won the gold medal in the National Junior Solo event and in the duet event with her teammate Wenjing Deng. She also won the bronze medal in the team event and finished third in figures.
Jennifer Shaver Koptie wins Suzanne Eon Trophy

Ontario's very own  Jennifer Shaver Koptie from Variety Village Synchro Club won the Suzanne Eon Trophy awarded to a coach during Synchro Canada's Canadian Open Championships to reward and encourage this person to continue coaching. Congratulations Jenn!!!

7 Ontario athletes qualify to Junior National Team Top 16
Ontario swimmers are awesome, with 7 of 16 athletes qualifying from National Team Trials to move on to National Junior Team Training Camp!  We wish them all the best at this next phase!   GO ONTARIO!

QUEBEC CITY – On April 28th, the City of Quebec, in partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee and Synchro Canada hosted a breakfast in honour of Canada’s Senior National Team and Senior National B Team. They were joined by young, local students, who had the opportunity to meet some of their favourite athletes.

Congratulations Addy!
Addy Strickland picking up the top prize from Susan Kitchen, Executive Director, Coaches Association of Ontario, in the MY Coach video contest. Abby won $800 for submitting her video about her coach Deanna Sokolowski and receiving the most votes online during the month of March. Addy swims for the Nepean Synchronized Swimming Club.  She was up against finalist videos submitted for a coaches in the sports of Gymnastics, Volleyball and Equestrian.

The Ontario Government has introduced a new resource titled An Overview of Provincially Mandated Police Records Check: A Resource for Ontario`s Not-for-Profit Sector. This document provides an overview of provincial legislative and regulatory requirements for police records checks for the Nonprofit (NFP) sector. The overview can serve as an educational tool to enhance understanding and knowledge with respect to appropriate use of police records checks as one important component of good screening practices.

Etobicoke Olympium undergoing 20 million dollar renewal in advance of the 2015 Pan Am Games

Burning Bright for Breast Cancer 2012
Synchro Swim Ontario is proud to announce that member clubs have raised an incredible $38,178.14 for the 2012 Burning Bright for Breast Cancer campaign bringing the 9-year grand total to a whopping $330,872.82.
Congratulations to the top fundraising club Sudbury Synchro who raised $10,841.76 and will be the recipient of the Myra Gerow Award. Burlington Synchro is the 2nd highest fundraising club  raising $5,487.66. Toronto Synchro claimed the 3rd highest fundraising club with $4,710.00
This year's top fundraisers are:

Emma Macartney of Burlington Synchro - $2,026.70

Julie Sauve Inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame
The Canadian Olympic Committee received donations totalling over 3 million dollars at the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony.  Proceeds are to support the Canadian Olympic Team.  For more details, go to www.olympic.ca
