SSO is excited to announce our improved, innovative, and comprehensive 2019 Canada Games Team Plan, which will encompass this summer’s Provincial Team programming.
After review of the 2015 Canada Games Team program and results, and in alignment with the development of the 2017-2020 SSO High Performance Plan, it was determined that a new development program, training plan, and selection process was required. It was decided that Ontario should implement a 2-year training and team development plan that monitors a larger pool of athletes in Year 1 (2017-18) and selects the final team earlier in Year 2 (2018-19).
A more detailed explanation of the above information, including Canada Games Teams FAQs, can be found in the posted “2019 Canada Games Team Plan” document.
To kick-off Year 1 of the 2019 Canada Games Team Plan, we are excited to announce, that in addition to the previously posted 11-12 &13-15 Provincial Teams, SSO will be adding a Junior (16-18) Provincial Team program for the summer of 2017. Only the Junior (16-18) & 13-15 Teams will fall under the 2019 Canada Games Team Training Pool, in alignment with the 2019 Canada Winter Games age eligibility.
The new Junior (16-18) Team Selection Criteria has now been posted online on the High Performance page. Junior Provincial Team Trials Phase I will take place at the Hilton Invitational.
Any 16-18/FINA Junior Athletes interested in attending the first Phase of Provincial Team Trials at Hilton should register on E-Reg by Wednesday March 15th.
Please use the NEW E-Reg Meet called “Junior Provincial Team Trials Phase 1” & use the payment form sent via SSO Communications on February 23rd. Registrations should be directed to [email protected].
For the 2017 Summer Provincial Teams Programs, Ontario has decided that all three teams (11-12, 13-15 & Junior/16-18) will travel to Edmonton, Alberta to compete in the SYNC Invitational from July 26-29th. This information has been updated in the posted 11-12 & 13-15 Selection Criteria.

Stéphanie Leclair and Robert Prévost announced as Canada’s mixed duet pair for FINA World Championships

Pair will compete in Mixed Duet Free event on July 28-30 in Kazan, Russia

Ottawa, July 16, 2015 — Synchro Canada is proud to announce that 2012 Olympian Stéphanie Leclair, from Gatineau (QC), will join forces with synchronized swimmer Robert Prévost, from Montréal (QC), to represent Canada in the first-ever mixed duet event at the upcoming FINA World Aquatic Championships in Kazan, Russia, on July 28-30, 2015.

Both athletes have come out of retirement to train for the World Championships, where they will be entering the Free Duet event.

“We are very proud to be the first ever Canadian mixed duet,” stated Leclair.  “We can’t wait to go out to Russia and show the world what we’re capable of.”

“This is truly a dream come true for me,” added Prévost.  “I’ve been involved with synchronized swimming for so many years but I’ve never had the opportunity to represent my country in an international competition.  I’m very thankful for this opportunity and I’m glad I’ll be able to share it with Stéphanie who is a great duet partner.”

The pair is coached by Valérie Welsh, another 2012 Olympian, who will be accompanying them in Russia.
