Please note that an updated version of the SSO Rulebook has been posted (as of Jan 27, 2016). This update includes a note regarding the use of Digital Music at Competitions for the 2015-16 season and the addition of Appendix G (Digital Music at Competitions Protocol).

Please note that an updated version of the SSO Rulebook has been posted (as of Jan 21, 2016) to recognize the creation of the Regional Training Centre – Ontario, and to align with recent changes made in Synchro Canada’s CASSA Rulebook that defines RTC as a competitive category to be the same as that of the Centre of Excellence, not a Club.

Synchro Swim Ontario is pleased to announce a draft list of athletes and alternates who have been nominated for Ontario Cards under the 2015-2016 Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the sport specific selection criteria developed by Synchro Swim Ontario, approved by its Board of Directors and applied by (the) Selection Committee. Burning Bright

The torch continues to burn bright as Synchro Swim Ontario clubs once again conclude this year’s campaign to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. With a modest 10 clubs participating, through the efforts of their athletes, coaches and volunteers, they managed to raise over $25,250 for this year’s campaign. These clubs included Burlington Synchro, Durham Synchro, Gloucester Synchro, Granite Synchro, Guelph Synchro, London Synchro, Mississauga Synchro, Sudbury Synchro, Toronto Synchro and York Synchro.

The top club was Sudbury Synchro, raising an incredible $6,550.98.   Toronto Synchro came in a close second with a total of $6,462.00 raised and Burlington Synchro coming in third with $4,843.59 raised. Sudbury Synchro has been involved in every Burning Bright campaign since its inception and has raised over $79,790.00 as a club.

The top fundraising athlete was Grace Anderson of Toronto Synchro. She raised $1,045.00. Close behind was Kamela Dal Zotto of Burlington Synchro who raised $963.10. There were over 23 athletes who raised over $250.00. Each of these athletes will receive a special “Congratulations” gift for their incredible effort. Presentations to the top club and the athletes who raised over $250.00 will be made at Lisa Alexander C/N/W & Provincial Qualifier competition on January 22-24, 20   16 at the Etobicoke Olympium.

Although not directly apart of the Burning Bright Campaign, several clubs participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Synchro Swim Ontario has been involved with helping to find a cure for Breast Cancer since 2004. Together with our clubs, we have raised a total of $404,663.96. Thank you to all those who participated and congratulations on being such a bright light in the fight against breast cancer.

Synchro Swim Ontario (SSO) seeks the skills of an experienced and qualified professional to join our team. The Sport Development Manager will work in collaboration with the Executive Director, SSO’s HP & Technical Lead, coaches, athletes, officials, committees and volunteers to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate SSO’s CS4L/LTAD and High Performance mandates. The Sport Development Manager will be responsible for implementing, tracking and promoting the development, participation and organization of SSO’s competitive pathway programs. This will include providing leadership to build capacity for long term athlete development as well as relationships at grassroots level, consistent with the goals and values of Synchro Swim Ontario.

Funded Grassroots Mentorship/Recruitment Program

 

New opportunity for experienced coaches to support the recruitment of new coaches into our sport
How it works:
A coach that is active and trained in the NCCP nominates a new coach to be mentored for one year. The new coach must be 16 years or older and have not already taken NCCP training. The experienced coach takes on the responsibility of mentoring the new coach.

Mentor Coach Benefits:

  • A $250 honorarium for their role as a mentor
  • FREE CAO Blue membership
  • Free admittance to the Ontario Coaches Conference’s Professional Development sessions
  • Professional Development points towards their Maintenance of Certification

New Coach Benefits:
