Geared towards coaches, this session will focus specifically on the FUNdamentals LTAD stage (Ages 6-8). Coaches will learn about the phsychological/social aspects of sport for this age group – what motivates them and how team dynamics impact training. The windows of train-ability will also be covered, as well as the role of competition for this age group.

Q4G Draft Athletes Announcement

Synchro Swim Ontario is pleased to announce a draft list of athletes and alternates who have been nominated for Ontario Cards under the 2016-2017 Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the sport specific selection criteria developed by Synchro Swim Ontario, approved by its Board of Directors and applied by (the) Selection Committee.

Ontario’s Quotas for 2017 National Qualifier

Please note that as per CASSA Rule 3.2.3 c, the quotas for Solos and Duets at the 2017 National Qualifier will be determined by a combination of provincial registrations & 2016 results (see full CASSA text below).
Quotas for Ontario for the 2017 National Qualifier will be as follows:
 
13-15 Solo = 7 entries
13-15 Duet = 9 entries
Junior Solo = 6 entries
Junior Duet = 7 entries
 
Please note that an official announcement from Synchro Canada will be issued once all Provinces’ registrations are confirmed. SSO has confirmed Ontario’s numbers above with Synchro Canada, and has opted to share this information right away so that Clubs and Coaches are aware of the quotas going into this weekend’s Provincial Qualifier.

As per CASSA Rule 3.2.3 c, the quotas for Solos and Duets at the 2017 National Qualifier will be determined by:
 
3.2.3 c) Qualifier [PAGE 16 CASSA]
 
Solo and Duet: 
The provincial quota includes 2 entries for the first 200 registered competitive swimmers (excluding Masters & AWAD) and 1 additional entry for additional registered competitive swimmers to a maximum of 4 per province as follows: 0-200 registered competitive swimmers = 2 additional entries; 201-400 registered competitive swimmers = 3 additional entries; 401-600+ registered competitive swimmers = 4 additional entries; 
 
Plus. Performance quota entries earned on the immediately preceding respective National championships results as follows: 2 entries per medallist and 1 entry per placement of 4-10 (or total amount of entries in final) to be awarded in the subsequent year, not counting foreign entries, and not including byes 
 
 
Team/Free Combination: All teams that enter and compete at their respective provincial selection meets are eligible to enter the Qualifier.

This session is geared specifically for parents of synchro athletes and for Club volunteers who administer synchro programming. Learn what LTAD is, the focuses of the key stages, and how parents & Clubs can help support athlete development by following LTAD models.


Session #2, #3, and #4 are geared towards Coaches of athletes at specific LTAD stages. Each of these sessions will cover the following core areas for their respective stage:

a) Psychological/social aspects of females in sport at this age group (motivation, team dynamics, female-specific issues etc.)

b) Windows of train-ability to take advantage of at this stage (understand the importance of focusing on these windows, and how it will develop stronger athletes in the long-term)

c) The role of competition for this age group (how to leverage competition as a vehicle for skill development and support for athletes, and how to make competition stage-appropriate)

LAND ROUTINE DEMO

Our athletes have been working hard since September learning this fun, music-based land routine, which shows off key flexibility, strength, and synchronization skills. Everyone is encouraged to come out to watch the demonstration and cheer them on! See Lisa A. meet schedule for demonstration time/location.

 

PARENT INFO SESSION

Parents of Learn to Train-age athletes (9 to 11 year olds) are ALL encouraged to join us for a 45 minute information session – topics will include sport psychology of the female athlete and methods for supporting your athlete in her synchro journey. No pre-registration is required. See Lisa A. meet schedule for session time/location.

 

L2T ATHLETE/COACH CLINIC

This 2-hour Mini Clinic will take place immediately following the competition – don’t forget to plan for this in your travel arrangements!  The clinic is for ALL athletes and coaches who registered for and attended the September L2T Clinic. This clinic is a follow-up which will provide support to coaches who are implementing L2T programming at their Clubs, and will reinforce and introduce new programs for athletes, who will work in the pool with top L2T experts. Clinics will follow the competition, see Lisa A. meet schedule for times. Detailed schedules and reminders will be sent to Clubs in early January.

 

DON’T FORGET – Additional L2T Events will be taking place at the Regionals Meets in March – additional opportunity for Clubs to demonstrate the Land Routine will be available.
