L2T Events at Lisa A – Reminder

Dec 23, 2016   //   by editor   //   Competitive, Latest News, Synchro Ontario  //  Comments Off on L2T Events at Lisa A – Reminder

Reminder to all Learn to Train Clubs, coaches, athletes & parents – there are three exciting L2T Events taking place at the upcoming Lisa Alexander Meets!

More Details…

Our athletes have been working hard since September learning this fun, music-based land routine, which shows off key flexibility, strength, and synchronization skills. Everyone is encouraged to come out to watch the demonstration and cheer them on! See Lisa A. meet schedule for demonstration time/location.

Parents of Learn to Train-age athletes (9 to 11 year olds) are ALL encouraged to join us for a 45 minute information session – topics will include sport psychology of the female athlete and methods for supporting your athlete in her synchro journey. No pre-registration is required. See Lisa A. meet schedule for session time/location.

This 2-hour Mini Clinic will take place immediately following the competition – don’t forget to plan for this in your travel arrangements!  The clinic is for ALL athletes and coaches who registered for and attended the September L2T Clinic. This clinic is a follow-up which will provide support to coaches who are implementing L2T programming at their Clubs, and will reinforce and introduce new programs for athletes, who will work in the pool with top L2T experts. Clinics will follow the competition, see Lisa A. meet schedule for times. Detailed schedules and reminders will be sent to Clubs in early January.

DON’T FORGET – Additional L2T Events will be taking place at the Regionals Meets in March – additional opportunity for Clubs to demonstrate the Land Routine will be available.

The Olympium Synchronized Swimming Club was treated to a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity to work with world-renowned choreographer Stephan Miermont last week.

Miermont – a former Cirque du Soleil performer and world championship synchronized swimmer himself – is founder and director of Aquartist, a water show production company specializing in synchronized swimming, water shows, underwater shows and mermaids.

With Aquartist, Miermont travels the world working with national synchronized swimming teams – most recently several teams competing at this past summer’s Olympic Games in Rio.

Since 2003, he has choreographed synchronized swimming routines for teams in China, Japan, Italy, France, England, Czech Republic and the United States – resulting in two gold medals, 16 silver medals, seven bronze medals and 41 finalist routines from World Championships and Olympic Games.

During his stop at the Etobicoke Olympium last week, Miermont not only worked with the Olympium Synchronized Swimming Club’s talented young swimmers on their routines, but he also ran a Synchro Swim Ontario coaches’ choreography clinic with 48 coaches from across the province.
